For the toasts I have a special wireless mic that I place on the head table. Having a mic that is in closer proximity to whomever is speaking is generally enough to get a nice clean signal. However I can also run a feed from the DJ’s mixing board, this would be the signal from the mic that the person is holding. While it is possible to do this, it doesn’t always work, so I don’t usually count on it, but it is nice to have if it will work. For audio in general, I like to have a variety of sources to choose from, so all the cameras has it’s own microphone in addition to any wireless systems I am running. Redundancy is a good way to ensure a good quality signal as some venues can have not so great acoustics.
